Piano Studio Policy
Welcome to the studio! My goal is to create a positive, structured, and encouraging environment where students can grow as confident, thoughtful musicians. Please read the following studio policies carefully. These policies help ensure consistency, respect, and the best possible learning experience for every student.
***New students are welcome to schedule a free trial lesson before enrolling (limit 1 per student)
Lesson Schedule

Lessons are held weekly at a consistent day and time.

Each lesson is [30/45/60] minutes in length.

Students are expected to arrive on time and be ready to begin promptly.

If students arrive late, it is not guaranteed that they will get their full lesson time.

Please arrive no more than 5 minutes early and be picked up promptly at the end of the lesson.
Tuition and Payment

Tuition is charged as a monthly rate (based off of lessons per month) and reserves your lesson time.

Monthly tuition is due on the 1st of each month.

Payment may be made via Zelle/check/cash.

Tuition covers not only lesson time, but also teacher preparation, individualized planning, and studio resources.

Discount of 5% off is offered for siblings

Referred students also receive 5% discount
Missed Lessons and Makeups
-
Consistent attendance is important for steady progress.
-
No refunds are given for missed lessons without notice.
-
If a student misses a lesson, three makeup lessons may be offered per month with at least 24 hours’ notice, based on teacher availability.

Lessons missed without sufficient notice are forfeited.
-
If the teacher must cancel, a makeup lesson will always be provided.
Practice Expectations

Regular practice is essential for progress.
-
Students are expected to practice consistently between lessons (Practice time and schedule will be discussed and planned with instructor).

Parents are encouraged to support younger students in maintaining a regular practice routine.
-
Quality and consistency of practice are more important than length alone.
Materials
Students are expected to bring the following to each lesson:

Assigned lesson books

Notebook or assignment journal

Practice materials
-
Any supplemental music given in previous lessons
Students should also have access to:

A piano or full-sized keyboard at home
-
A bench adjusted to appropriate height

A quiet practice space
Studio Safety and Security

CCTV is installed for safeguarding, security of students and teachers, and protecting property.

Recordings are used solely for safety and security purposes and will remain private.
Parent Involvement

Parents of young beginners are encouraged to attend lessons when appropriate.
-
Parent support at home is especially important for helping young students establish good practice habits.
-
Open communication between teacher and parent is encouraged and appreciated.
Recitals and Performance Opportunities

Students may be invited to participate in studio recitals and other performance opportunities throughout the year.

Participation is encouraged, though not always required.
-
Recitals help students build confidence, musicianship, and performance skills.
Illness Policy

Please do not attend lessons if the student is sick or contagious.

If a student is feeling unwell, please notify the teacher as soon as possible.
-
Online lessons may be offered when appropriate.
Communication

Studio communication will be handled through email/text.

Please feel free to reach out with questions regarding lessons, scheduling, or student progress.

I aim to respond within [24–48] hours.
Discontinuing Lessons

If a student wishes to discontinue lessons, please provide at least one month's notice.

Tuition is non-refundable once paid.
-
Missed lessons may not be applied toward the notice period.
Commitment to a Positive Learning Environment
The studio is committed to fostering a respectful, encouraging, and supportive environment for all students. Progress in music takes time, patience, and consistency, and each student is encouraged to grow at their own pace.
